CoverGirl Clean Whipped Foundation Review

I was intreaged by this product for two different reason. The first on being that I love my L'Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle foundation because I think that a creme formula is much easier to work with and I think it's a little more forgive in color matching as well so I was curious to try CoverGirl's cream foundation. Second, I used the CoverGirl's Clean Liquid foundation for Oily Skin several years ago and I was curious how they compared. I thought the Clean Liquid foundation had very little coverage and it was pretty difficult to get out of the packaging. What I like about the Clean Whipped foundation is that it comes in an easy to open pot so I'm not banging my foundation bottle against my hand trying to get product out. I did think that the container was kind of small looking. Not that I'm trying to encourage waste by asking for excessive packaging, I'm just used to seeing whipped foundations in bigger containers. One thing I didn't like about the packaging is the difficulty in finding your shade name. I am usually a classic ivory or some variation of that name, and I know several women look for their shade by name. On the top of the container all you see is a number, in my case it happened to be 310. There is a name on the back of the container, but it's very very small so you really have to look for it. Now as for the foundation itself. I think this is a light to medium coverage foundation. It's very easy to blend and work into the skin. I haven't noticed any excess oil on my skin when I wear this foundation, and I am an oil producing machine lol. I haven't noticed it clinging to any of my dry skin areas or any excessive breakdown through out the day. This foundation can last me through a full 8 to 10 hour work day. Overall I'm pretty pleased with this foundation. I think because of the creme formula and how easy it is to work with, this would be a great foundation for makeup newbies. Walgreens Haul!

Cover Girl, Milani, Maybelline, Sally Hanson, and Jordana

Today I was lucky enough to do a small shopping trip to Walgreens. Almost everything I bought was a new product for me, the only thing that was a repeat purchase was the Cover Girl Lash Blast Clump Crusher mascara. I also bought the new Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 foundation in Ivory. The right color for me would have been Classic Ivory but they didn't have it in stock and I didn't have the patience to wait till they had again. So in the mean time I'll be deepening it up with some bronzer. I also picked up the Milani Fix Brow Kit in Light. I've been using a pencil from Maybelline for years, but I'm curious to see how this powder functions. I've seen EleventhGorgeous use this brow kit before and it seems to work well, they also got it based on a recommendation from a makeup artist so that really helped push me to buy this. Then I picked up two of the new Maybelline Color Whispers in One Size Fits Pear and the other in Pink Possibilities. I did try these in the car because I was too excited and One Size Fits Pear seams pretty transparent with a little shimmer. While Pink Possibilities has a nice, buildable color. I also picked up a Jordana Fabuliner in Black. I have never been good at using liquid liner and I have decided that I'm going to master that skill if it kills me! Plus the liner was only $1.99.  I also picked up two new nail polishes. Lately I have found that I'm really drawn to taupes and rosegolds. One heck of a combination, I know. So I picked up Smokey Taupe from the Cover Girl Outlast line and Strobe Light from Sally Hanson Xtreme Wear. All in all I'm pretty happy with my purchases. I haven't really used any of them enough to form an opinion about them just yet so reviews are soon to follow. Be Fearless. Be Beautiful. Be You.

New Cover Girl Eyeshadow Quads and Trios in Fairytale and Smoke Alarm

I was in CVS today waiting on some prescriptions so I decided to take a look in the makeup section just to browse. Now I knew that Cover Girl had changed the packaging of their quads and trios, however I did not know that they put out new shades. The two that caught my eye the most out of the new collection were the Fairytale quad and the Smoke Alarm Trio. I liked the romantic look that Fairytale had. It looked like something I would use one date night. It's got some beautiful pinks and plums in that allow you to create that soft and sexy smokey eye without being too dramatic. As for the Smoke Alarm trio what I liked about those colors was the fact that they were smokey without being over the top and too dark. I think these colors would be great on blue and green eyes for a soft and subtle daytime smokey eye. The smokey taupe colors allow for some soft sexiness. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Review

Now if you can't tell by the content of my blog I don't usually buy a whole lot of lip products. My Burt's Bee's lip balm is about as far as I go with that. However, when I heard about the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains I was intrigued. Especially since a lot of people have been comparing them to a Tarte product. Now I've never used the Tarte product, but when something gets compared to a higher end brand I have to see what all the hype is about. These balm stains have a nice minty smell that isn't over powering and it leaves a nice tingle on your lips. The tingle is small, I promise it doesn't feel like your lips are burning off or anything. I bought the color Honey because it seemed  like the most natural lip color and since I'm kinda new to using lip products I didn't want to get anything too outrageous. I do like the color. It's like your natural lip color just a little better. The application is nice and smooth. This definitely feels like it gives my lips some moisture. It's not greasy or thick in any way. This isn't the kind of lip product that your hair likes to stick to. As for the staying power the color lasts longer than the smooth moisturizing feeling does. I think that's where the stain part comes in. Even though you don't feel the smooth creamy balm part after a few hours, there is still some color on your lips. I personally like that because part of the reason I stay away from lip products is because I don't want to spend all day reapplying them. I certainly think this product is worth a try.

Coastal Scents and E.L.F. Haul!

So this week I received two packages from different comapanies, Coastal Scents and E.L.F. I have never ordered anything from Coastal Scents so I wasn't sure what to expect, however I have ordered from E.L.F. more times than I care to admit. From Coastal Scents I ordered three new makeup brushes and their Bright Eyed Concealer in Ivory for $9.95. The makeup brushes that I ordered were the Classic  Blender Pointed Synthetic Brush (BR-C-S09) for $2.95, the Classic Angle Synthetic Brush (BR-C-S05) for $1.95, and the Classic Blender Crease Synthetic Brush (BR-C-S08) for $.2.49. I haven't used any of the brushes yet but in comparison to the E.L.F. brushes that I own I can feel a difference. Both brands are soft, however Costal Scents brushes are a little stiffer. I did get a chance to try the Bright Eye Concealer and my inital thoughts is that it's a pretty good concealer. I have some serious dark circles so I am constantly on the look for that holy grail concealer. I bought this because on the website it had a peachy undertone to it, and in person it still has that tone. It doesn't get rid of my dark circles completely, but I have some pretty dark circles so I'm happy with what it does cover.

E.L.F. Order

From E.L.F. I also got some new makeup  brushes. I bought the Studio Fan Brush for $3, the Studio Contouring Brush for $3, and the Essentials Blending Eye Brush for $1. My Fan Brush did arrive a little smushed so I had to deep clean it and place in a Brush Guard to dry. E.L.F. has a new line of Baked Eyeshadows. They are $3 a piece and I  bought the colors Pixie, Burnt Plum, Toasted, and Bark. I haven't used any of these yet so I can't give you an opinion on them.

E.L.F. Little Black Beauty Book: Warm Edition 

I also bought the new E.L.F. Little Black Beauty Book: Warm Edition for $5. I also have the Cool Edition but I bought it about a year ago from Ross and it's called "E.L.F. Little Black Beauty Book Volume II" but the colors are the exact same as the Cool Edition. I haven't used the Warm Edition yet but baised off my experience with the Cool Edition these colors will be like most E.L.F. products, hit or miss. Some colors are great and wonderfully pigmented while others leaving you wanting. All in all though I think this will be a good buy, especially for $5. I hope you have enjoyed this haul!

L'Oreal De-Crease Eyeshadow Base Review

I recently bought this is a Walgreens haul. I picked this up out of pure curiousity and to compair it to higher end brands and even some drug store brands like E.L.F. This primer claims to prevent creasing or 8 hours. I would say it's closer to 7 hours. This primer does help keep your eyeshadows from creasing but it's not for a full 8 hours and no it does not work like Urban Decay's Primer Potion or Too Faced's Shadow Insurance. This is not an all day primer. This is for a few hours out at night or just out to lunch or something like that. All day events like weddings or prom deserve a better primer. I wouldn't buy this again. I would rather put my money else where. I could buy 10 of E.L.F.'s Eyelid Primer for what it cost to buy these and E.L.F. work's better. Basically, the summary of the story is to pass on this and put your money into another primer. This is not a holy grail item.

My DRUGSTORE Makeup Essentials

If there is one thing I have learned since I started doing makeup it's that no one wants to spend a lot of money on it. Everyone is looking for that stunning can't-live-without-it product that doesn't cost a fortune. Especially for young girls who are just starting out in makeup who want to try things out but most likely don't have a whole lot of money to spend. I have gone back into my makeup collection and picked out my drug store must-haves and  basic products everyone should have. First I'll start with the primers because without them the rest of your makeup is pointless. My go-to drugstore primers are Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer ($8) and E.L.F. Eyelid Primer($1). I love both these primers. I think they both do everything I need a primer to do. Now I will admit that the foundation I use is expensive for a drugstore brand, it is the L'Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle Foundation ($13). I love the coverage of this foundation, it's a medium to full coverage. The powder I use is the L'Oreal True Match Powder($6). I like this powder because it adds some more coverage and as someone who loves a full coverage look that is essential. Now I have dark under eye circles so a concealer is a must-have. I love Revlon's Photo Ready Concealer ($7). This is such a creamy stick concealer. Just be sure to set this with a powder. Then last but not least my eye products. The only mascara I will use is thee Cover Girl Lash Blast Fusion($9) in the waterproof formula. For my eyebrows I use the Maybelline Expert Wear Eyebrow Pencils($4). Then for eyeshadows I am stuck between to brands but I love them and use them both equally. First are the Wet n Wild trios($3). I love them. They are so pigmented and easy to find. I would die without them. Then I have my Cover Girl Eye Enhancers Trios($4). I also like the quads and singles. I think all of the colors are beautiful and I like that you don't have to search around in your collection for shadows that will work together cause they're all right there in front of you. Maybelline Falsies Volum' Express Flaired Mascara Review

Lately I have felt the need to make my lashes look longer, as I'm sure most women do. So I went to Target and picked this up for about $6. However, I am not happy with this mascara at all. This is a very wet formula, even in water proof. I also have oily lids so that usually means that I have mascara running under my eyes (with a few noted exceptions) this is one of those mascaras that gives you raccoon eyes. As if raccoon eyes weren't enough it is absolutely impossible to get this mascara off! I lost lashes trying to get this off and I don't have very many lashes to begin with it. On top of everything else I didn't notice this making my lashes look any longer. This was a wasted $6. I threw this out and I wont repurchase this. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 1 Kit Eye Shadow in Champagne

This color is a cult favorite of CoverGirl cosmetics, and now that I'm an owner of this color I understand why. This is one of the most beautiful highlight colors I have ever come across. When I'm creating my own look using different colors in my collection this is the first thing I reach for to use as my highlight. I've had to start hiding it from myself to give some of the other colors a fighting chance. This is a pearly color. Maybe even a bit frosty, but it's not like oober over the top frosty. Just enough to give your look some umph! This also a great all over color if you're just trying to add a little bit of color. It helps give your eyes a wide awake look even if you only had 2 hours of sleep. This is also a great color for younger girls because it's not a dark color. You can't go wrong with this color! I wish I had picked this up sooner!

December Favorites!

Sorry this took so long everybody. I've had some family stuff that I needed to take care of but I'm here now! Let's see first on my December favorites list would have to be my Sally Hanson Xtreme Wear nail polish in mint sorbet. I absolutely love this color. I have yet to take it off my nails, and it probably won't come off for some time. Second would have to be my E.L.F. $1 foundation brush. I got it just to try it out. I've been applying my foundation with my fingers as long as I can remember but I've always wondered how much coverage I was losing because of it. Well now I know. This foundation brush is here to stay. Next would have to be my Too Faced Romantic Eye Pallet. I got it for Christmas and I absolutely love it. The colors are extremely pigmented and are just plain beautiful. My last favorite for the month would have to be would have to be my E.L.F. lipstick in Sociable. It is a gorgeous hot pink color with a little bit of glitter in it. I love to wear it with a very simple eye look out to karaoke.

CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 1 Kit Eye Shadow in Tapestry Taupe

I recently bought a huge amount of new eye shadows, mostly Cover Girl eye shadows. I picked up singles, trios, and quads. Some of the shadows were great while others left some to be desired, and because this is such a well known brand and is very accessible I would like to review all of them for you. I personally like to read reviews before I go out and purchase things and for some of these eye shadows I wish I had done that. However, I knew when I bought these I wanted to do reviews on them so I wanted to be as unbiased as possible and give each shadow a fair shot. Tapestry Taupe is one shadow that I love. Its not a dark taupe and I like that. I like to use this all over my lid and crease for a quick and pretty natural looking eye. I have worn this everyday for a week to work. I think this is a great stand alone eyeshadow great for busy moms that don't want to spend forever getting a nice look or even college girls like my younger sister who have more important things to worry about than coordinating eye shadows before class. However, because this isn't too dark I wouldn't use this as a crease color with something that has a brownish tint to it on the lid. It could get lost with a shadow like that. over all though I would say this is a repurchase all the way and a great basic in any makeup collection.

Maybelline Define-A-Brow EyeBrow Pencil Review

I have been a huge fan of Maybelline's ExpertWear Eyebrow Pencil for years so I thought that this would be a good item to try. I couldn't have been more spot on if I had tried. It's got an eyebrow brush on one end and an eyebrow pencil that twists up at the other end. I personally don't need the eyebrow brush because my brows aren't that wild but it does come in handy from time to time. As for the actual pencil, I am in love. The tip is so small and it allows you to create hair like strokes. You also have great control over how much product is applied to your brows. I love that because I go back and forth between coloring my hair blonde and dark auburn and with this pencil you can control how dark or light your brows are. The staying power of these pencils is fantastic! I have very oily skin so I am far too familure with products just running off my face. Even without primer the product stays where I need it to. I personally love this product and I would most deffinately repurchase this.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Trio Review

After watching review videos about these trios I finally decided to give this drugstore brand a try. I was hesitant because when I hear Wet n Wild I automatically think cheap and useless. This is probably from my preteen days of using cheap makeup before I knew what I was really doing. Now when I think Wet n Wild I think cheap and underrated! I bought the trios Walking on Eggshells and Sweet as Candy. I bought them because they were more on the neutral side and you can't go wrong with neutral shadows. When I first swatched these the first thing I noticed was the great pigmentation. The payoff I got just from barely rubbing my bare finger over the colors was astounding, especially for a drug store brand. The colors blend beautifully. I haven't tried any of the more outrageous colors yet, but I'm dying to. These also have tremendous staying power. I have worn these with both my E.L.F. Eyelid Primer and my Too Face Shadow Insurance and have no problem with fading or creasing. These would be great gifts for makeup newbies since the colors are already labeled and come with directions on how to apply them. It also helps that they are very inexpensive. I say go out and by all of them (that's what I'm slowly doing!).

Revlon Photo Ready Concealer Review

I bought this concealer after watching emilynoel83 do a review on this and I have to say she was right. It was worth the purchase. It is the creamiest and smoothest stick concealer I have ever come across. Most stick concealers I have encountered are very hard to blend and you need to warm them up on the back of your hand first. Personally I think needing to warm up your concealer is a waste of time and product. As for the coverage that this concealer gives, it's amazing. I have some serious dark under eye circles. They're so dark I've had people ask me where I got the shiner (no joke). However, with this concealer I can easily hide my dark circles and they aren't covered with this bright and noticeable sheen that some concealers give off. You know the kind. The kind that looks like you've put way too much of something thats way too light on under your eyes. Even with my porcelain skin I can have that problem, but not with this concealer. I can apply this straight from the tube onto my under eye area and blend it out with my finger with no problems. I would seriously recommend this concealer to EVERYONE.

L'Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle Foundation Review

I bought this foundation about a month ago just to give it a shot. I was using the Cover Girl Clean Foundation with few complaints but I figured trying something new couldn't hurt. The first thing I noticed was the very very smooth texture. It feels great going on your face, and it blends very easily. As for the kind of coverage this foundation gives I would have to say it has to be medium to full coverage. I personally like fuller coverage because I have a fair amount of acne scars on my face. The only down sides I've found is that it is very thick and this is not the kind of foundation that you skip washing your face with. I have acne prone skin and just one time of forgetting to wash my face and I woke up with three new pimples. However, if I wash my face consistently it's not a problem. Besides that the only other problem I had was blending if I accidentally grabbed too much product to put on my face. If I grabbed too much the foundation would kind of roll on its self. You know how when you're trying to get a sticky label off something and it starts to roll up? Well that's what the foundation does if you put too much on, but it's easy to fix if you do put too much on. Those were the only down falls I found and they were more user based than product based. Over all I would definitely recommend this product.

E.L.F. Eye Primer Review

I recently ordered a few items off of eyeslipsface.com for the first time. Among the things that I ordered the E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer and E.L.F. Eyelid Primer made their way into my basket at checkout. I tried them both out last night, the Mineral Primer on one lid and the regular Primer on the other. After a 10 hour evening out I came home to check how the primers had held up. The E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer had creased on me while the E.L.F. Eyelid Primer held up just as well as my Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I should have known that I wasn't going to be happy with the E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer when I applied it. The formula was very wet, too wet. It was so wet that it was hard to work in to the skin of my lid. Then when I put my eyeshadow on I noticed that the color didn't show up as bright as the color did on the lid with the E.L.F. Eyelid Primer did. So I have reached the conclusion that you should save your $2 and buy the $1 E.L.F. Eyelid Primer and leave the E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer at the factory.
