Trimming Your Bangs: How To Avoid a Hair Disaster

I have had bangs on and off for years. I had them in middle school, high school, and now as a 21 year old. I've had bangs I blow dried with a round brush and wore them directly on my forehead and for the last several years I've had bangs that I sweep to the side. As you can imagine over the years I have learned a few lessons about trimming my own bangs. I think that trimming your own bangs is a smart thing to do since when your bangs start to grow out they kind of mess with the way the rest of your hair looks. The first tip is you need SHARP scissors. If you want to go to Walmart or Sally's and buy a pair of shears that's great, if not just get a brand new pair of scissors and only use them to cut your hair. Next, cut your hair when it is clean and styled in your everyday wear. This is how you wear it on a daily basis and "dirty" or second day hair sits differently than when you've just showered and styled your hair. My last tip is the most important tip I can bestow to you. TAKE A LITTLE BIT OFF AT A TIME! Once it's cut, it's gone. You can't go back. Pull your bangs to the front of your face using which ever hand you aren't using to trim your bangs (use the hand you write with to cut your bangs) hold the hair tight. Cut little bits off at a time, taking a break after each cut to check your progress. If you do that you will save yourself from having to pin your bangs back with a clip because they are just way too short. Hard Candy Glamoflauge v. Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer

I know that I personally have heard a lot of comparisons between these two concealers and since there is a major jump in price I thought I would give you an evaluation of how they compare  to each other. First lets start with the basics: price, amount of product, and color range. With Hard Candy Glamoflauge you get 0.71 oz for $6. While Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer will cost you $28 for 0.58 oz. Now as you can imagine Hard Candy doesn't come in a lot of shade ranges. Your options are Light, Medium, and Dark. Kat Von D has eight color options catering to more people with yellow and pink undertones. As far as coverage goes I think these are really close if not the same in that department. Personally I think the only reason you should buy the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer is if Glamoflauge doesn't match your skin color. If you're like me and you have vary fair skin I would recommend you go with Kat Von D. However, if you have warmer skin and tend to wear colors like "natural beige" I would say give the Glamoflauge a try first. Long story short I think Hard Candy is a better value cause it is just as good as Kat Von D's concealer. However, if Hard Candy's color selection doesn't work for you Kat Von D's Lock-It Tattoo Concealer is a wonderful alternative and worth every penny.

Walmart and Sephora Haul!

I recently bought a few (and I really mean a few) items from Walmart and Sephora. From Walmart I picked up the Hard Candy Welcome Matte Mattifying Powder for $8. I haven't used it yet but I have to say I am a big fan of the packaging. Underneath the powder is a Hard Candy sponge in the shape of pink heart and a mirror that has the Hard Candy logo written across the top and then along the bottom it says "Get ready for your close up". I don't know why but I find that really cute. The bottom is vented so the sponge, if you choose to use it, wont build up as much bacteria. However, like I said I haven't used it yet so a review will  come at a later date. Then from Sephora I picked up from Tarte, which is a brand I've never used before, their 12 hour Amazonian Clay Foundation for $38. I saw this on QVC when they were featuring with the Tarte Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush.  However, they didn't have an ivory option and for the amount of money it would have cost me I didn't want it in the wrong color. I have used it once and my initial reaction is that I like it. Also from Sephora I bought a face wash from Soap and Glory for $16. I haven't used it yet either but I am looking forward to it. I'm trying to use up my other face wash first, which shouldn't be too much longer, and I wanted free shipping. I will be doing reviews on all these products so keep an eye out! Hope you enjoyed!

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer Review

I have been trying to get my hands on this primer for MONTHS! I wish I could say I was joking. However, I am sadly serious. The only down side to Hard Candy products is that they are exclusive to Walmart and because they are pretty cheap (this primer was $8) everyone and their mom wants them. So every time I went to Walmart to buy this primer it was gone or they had it in a finish that I wasn't interested in. However, the Makeup Gods smiled in my favor this week and there it was. The Hard Candy Primer I had been trying to review forever and a day. First lets start with the easy stuff, the packaging and the price. I personally love the packaging. It is very much my style. It's girly with a little bit of rock and roll in it. Love it. This is a 1.6 oz bottle for $8. My Too Faced Primed and Poreless is a 1 oz bottle for $30. Just to give you a reference. Now on the the good shit, how this preforms. I love this primer. Love it. It makes my face feel nice and smooth. It doesn't have a smell, but it does have a  weird constancy. It comes out looking like a white cross between a gel and a cream. You don't need much to get the job done, it's very easy to work into your skin. I think this made my foundation last just as well as my Too Faced Primer and for a serious fraction of the price I may not repurchase the Too Faced Primer.
